Raleigh and the surrounding communities of Durham and Chapel Hill, among others, make up what is known as the Research Triangle metropolitan area. The region is named after the Research Triangle Park (located halfway between Raleigh and Durham), one of the largest and most respected research parks in the United States.

The Research Triangle communities are also home to some of America’s largest and most prestigious universities. North Carolina State (in Raleigh), University of North Carolina (in Chapel Hill), Duke University (in Durham) and Wake Forest (in Winston-Salem) fill Raleigh communities with the best and brightest students from around the globe, and keep the area on the cutting edge of scholarly pursuits.

The Neighborhoods of Raleigh:

While the prospects of good jobs and universities bring people to Raleigh, what keeps them content are the city’s low cost of living and unique flair. Raleigh real estate is still affordable and appealing, and the city itself boasts some interesting niche neighborhoods to explore and reside in. From the sought-over Historic Oakwood neighborhood, to the small-town feel of the Bedford locality, to the close-knit community of Boylan Heights, and the ultra-trendy Glenwood South and Warehouse areas, Raleigh real estate has something to offer everyone.

Raleigh Culture:

Raleigh also has a wealth of museums of art and science, as well as large venues for the performing arts, including opera, musicals, drama, dance and musical acts. The city itself is home to many professional arts organizations, like the North Carolina Symphony or the Carolina Ballet, and the numerous colleges also provide for many opportunities to enjoy top-rate cultural events.

Aside from the housing options and cultural events, Raleigh also offers its residents mild and pleasant weather all year round. Temperatures do range from the low thirties in the winter months to the nineties at the peak of summer, but Raleigh residents also enjoy a long and mild summer with temperatures floating in the seventies for much of the year.

With so many incredible opportunities and features, Raleigh may already seem perfect. But the city is not stopping yet on improving its communities: the city council recently passed a ten year capital improvement plan that will invest money in repaving and widening streets, building a new public safety building and bettering its city parks, among other things.

For all these reasons and more, Raleigh has consistently proven to be a wonderful place to purchase real estate.
