City Government: The city’s government, an eight-member council with a mayor, makes most of the decisions that govern Raleigh. Public Works: In Raleigh, all garbage, recycling and yard waste is collected from the curb each week on the same day. Public Transportation: Those who are not fans of driving will love Raleigh’s excellent public transit system, known as Capital Area Transit, or CAT.
