African American Cultural Complex: This unique complex (119 Sunnybrook Road in Raleigh, 919-250-9336) looks specifically at the history of African Americans in North Carolina, and their contributions to the state. Mordecai Historic Park: Mordecai (1 Mimosa Street in Raleigh, 919- 857-4364) offers visitors the unique experience of touring an antebellum plantation home (with most of its original furnishings).

Historic Oak View County Park: Walk around at your leisure through an antebellum farmstead (4028 Carya Drive in Raleigh, 919- 250-1013) with a house, detached kitchen, carriage house, barn, pecan grove, and herb garden. The cotton gin house museum and Farm History Center offer fascinating information on the way life was lived back in the early nineteenth century. Silver Lake Water Park: This theme park, located at 5300 Tryon Road in Raleigh, offers both wet and dry entertainment to last the whole day.
